Working in clay provides me with the opportunity to create 3d canvases for my brushwork and motifs. I love working in clay - such a satisfying process, whether using the wheel or handbuilding pieces. Currently, I am able to work in the studio of Sandy Larkman, my first ceramics teacher from my childhood and highly respected East Anglian painter and potter - a joy!
See Sandy's glorious work at www.sandylarkman.co.uk.
I also make raku fired ceramic fruit and seed pods with antique Suffolk nail stalks. The use of found objects in works creates connections with time and place. Celebrating ancient heritage, three examples of these sculptures were recently on display in The Guildhall National Trust property in Lavenham.
